Tripp??

I have no time or inclination to post anything more than

WHAT THE?

Is this bogan, this obsession with random nouns as baby names?  I get the 'place name' thing, hell I did it myself, but just random things?  Spelt wrong?

Argh.

Someone tell me what the idea is please?

Hi Tara,
I am new to your blog but like you am fascinated by the names we give our children. I also have two daughters, Laura Elizabeth and India Rose! My Indie is almost fourteen and her named was inspired not by the place but by the character India Wilkes in Gone With The Wind. Caused quite a bit of controversy with my mother-in-law at the time but she has been complimented on her "beautiful" name by complete strangers more times than I can count.

Have to agree with you on Tripp though, very strange.

I assume this is in relation to the Palin clan? I think the names in that family desrive a whole post!!

Ok - so I'm new to the website, but I have a friend with a son they call "Tripp"...Here's the thing. He is actually, Steven Alexander (last name) III, as his father is a Jr. and my friend wanted to keep the family tradition. She didn't want to call him Steven, so they decided to call him "Tripp" as in "Triple" since he is the third one in the family with the name. I don't know if this is the case for all "Tripps", but it seemed a pretty legitimate nickname to me. Anyway - love the site!

Hi Dana,

Actually that is really cute to be called Tripp as short for Triple. Is Steven Alexander often referred to with III after his name? That always seems so strange to me. It is exceedingly uncommon in Australia, but seems to crop up fairly often in the US?

Hi Lynne! Your daughters' names are fabulous ;) inspired in fact! What good choices, I just love them.

Tara
