Naming trend prediction - Old Norse
Sunday, July 1, 2007 at 07:11AM My prediction of the next big thing in baby names ... Old Norse. I really think that names that come from Nordic tradition are going to increase in popularity. These names are just as attractive as Celtic names, which are the current trend for parents, but haven't been used to death yet. The quest for an unusual name is going to draw parents in the direction of Scandinavia, and the fabulous Crown Princess Mary has given Australia a link with Denmark that is bound to influence people to look north as well!
Nordic names are a bit quirky and unusual but not completely unfamilar; which is perfect for the parents who like unusual but not wacky names. Watch out for the seriously trendy to start using these names for their children!
BOYS
Alvis, Balder, Ballard, Bjorn, Blighe, Busby, Caxton, Colby, Corey, Digby, Eilif, Frode, Gilby, Halvard, Hoyt, Ivor, Kari, Loki, Odin, Quimby, Roald, Roscoe, Rune, Skeet, Sven, Tait, Tandr, Thor, Torquil, Tyr, Vali, Vidar, Ymir.
GIRLS
Ailsa, Asta, Astrid, Brenda, Gerda, Hayley, Helga, Inga, Ingrid, Helda, Liv, Ola, Olga, Rona, Shelby, Sigrid, Tandy, Ulla.
Check out that treasure trove of names! What do you think? Mind you, I think the boys names are more attractive than the girls? Hmmm...

Actually I quite like the girls names. I loved the name Sigrid as a girl.
Liv is pretty too!
And I LOVE Astrid!
I think I prefer the girls names.... Liv is like Olivia which is pretty popular, and Liv Tyler :D
Wasn't Ailsa Alf's wife on Home and away? hehe
I really love the name Liv!
Adding Digby to my list as well!
Interesting post. Any other suggestions?

My name is Kari and it is taking from a Scandinavian ancestor, I saw it on the boy's list but wanted to give a shout out to my own name which I think is a cute spelling of the original Carrie.
